Popcorn-Coconut-Oil-Stovetop
[eltd_blockquote text=”The quest for hot, crisp, buttery and salty, cinema-grade popcorn at home is over.” show_icon=”no”]

At first, you’re putting one piece in your mouth at a time like you’ve got class and your shit together, but by the bottom of the bowl you’ve got half your hand shoved down your throat and you’re wondering what went wrong in your life.

Need a late snack? Don’t want to ruin your diet? Craving savoury over sweet? Home-cooked popcorn is the quick, easy and healthy answer. Although air-popped is technically the healthier method, it’s also pretty boring.

The best way to make great popcorn at home is on the stove with coconut oil. Not only does it result in crispy, crunchy, golden puffs where all the kernels explode, but you also get the health benefits of coconut oil.

Add to that the fact it apparently has more antioxidants than fruit and vegetables, and you’ve got a guilt-free, tasty little morsel in your paws/jaws.

METHOD
  1. In a large saucepan, melt the Coconut Oil and add a few twists of freshly-ground Sea Salt over a medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is just melted, add the Popcorn Kernels. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until some of the kernels begin to pop, and then place the lid slightly ajar to allow a bit of the steam to escape (if possible – this thing can get violent once the party starts).
  3. When there are a few seconds between pops, turn off the heat and add the delicious, fluffy, golden clouds of goodness to a large bowl. Be careful not to touch the inside of the pan, as that oil is searing hot.
  4. Add more sea salt to taste, give it a bit of a toss, and sit back and watch Orange Is The New Black in bliss.
